Information related to the Service Line Warranties of America program
Recently, residential property owners in the City received a post card mailing from Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA), providing notice that they offer homeowners an optional protection plan for their exterior sewer lines. Some property owners have raised questions about the legitimacy of the program after receiving the mailing. The SLWA program is a service being provided by a third party vendor and not a part of any City Department or function. The SLWA has been endorsed by the National League of Cities and currently provides warranty service in over 400 cities in the United States.
The City of Rochester has entered into a Marketing Agreement with SLWA to allow the company to provide the warranty service for exterior sewer line repairs. The Agreement allows for the use of the City’s logo and signature on marketing and advertising materials. The post card is the initial mailing from SWLA as part of the rollout of the program. They will be following up with a letter that also incorporates the City’s logo and signature. Again, this is a mailing from SLWA and not from the City.
