City of the First Class

State law defines cities by class based on the city’s population.  When a city’s population exceeds 100,000 based on the most recently completed federal census, it becomes a city of the first class.  The City of Rochester is expected to be designated a city of the first class in 2011.  This designation carries with it a number of different statutory regulations.  The master table of statutes is a reference document in an Excel format that allows users to review these statutory regulations that may impact the City of Rochester, Olmsted County, Independent School District 535, and businesses located within the city.  The different statutory cites impacting the City of Rochester have been divided by City department based on the content of the regulation.  For the convenience of the user, the reference document includes the citation to the Minnesota statute, a link to the full statute, the chapter title and a synopsis of the statute.
