In 2006, city leaders approved a two year project to address energy consumption at city operated facilites and energy dependent infrastructure, such as traffic signals. Each city facility was evaluated to determine cost savings by addressing inefficient building controls, lighting, and other energy dependent equipment.
The outcome of this project is saving the city $603,044 per year in energy costs, which results in an 8.8 year return on investment.
