Does it cost anything to receive alerts?
Rochester Alert is free to all who live and work in Olmsted County - really to anyone who signs up. The only charge may come from your cell phone carrier, if your plan costs money to get text messages. Otherwise, there are no costs to you.

How will I receive alerts?
It really is up to you. Rochester Alert allows you to choose the best way to receive alerts and warnings. If you like text messages, enter your cell phone and carrier (cell phone company) into your profile. You might prefer to have your home phone ring, and a message to be read to you. Some users would rather read an email alert. Rochester Alert allows you to choose the best way to reach you.

Can I choose the time of day?
You might only want to receive alerts when you are at work. Set your profile to get alerts during the day. At night, you will not receive any alerts (if that is your choice). However, our "life-threat override" will allow emergency officials to reach you during critical, life-threatening events.

Can I sign-up without a computer?

Rochester Alert sends messages to plain old telephones, too. If you need help to sign-up, call Rochester Alert Subscription Line (507) 328-2828
