Engine Companies

Rochester Fire Department Engine 51

The Rochester Fire Department (RFD) has 6 frontline engines and 3 reserve engines available to respond to emergencies. All RFD engine companies are staffed with 1 Captain, 1 Motor Operator, and 1 Firefighter. The frontline engine companies are staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The engine companies respond to all EMS and public service calls within the City of Rochester, and to all fire and rescue calls within the RFD response area.

Truck Companies

Rochester Fire Department Truck 42

Rochester Fire Department has 2 ladder trucks available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. These truck companies are staffed with 1 Captain, 1 Motor Operator, and 1 Firefighter. RFD's truck companies respond to public service calls, such as lift assists and broken water pipes, within the City of Rochester and to all fire and rescue calls within the RFD response area.

Rochester Fire Department Rescue 4

The Rescue Truck is part of the Truck Company. RFD has two available. Two Truck Company firefighters staff this apparatus when it is requested to respond to an emergency. These apparatus carry tools and equipment to handle motor vehicle accidents such as cribbing and blocking for vehicle stabilization, and the "Jaws of Life" for extricating people from their motor vehicles.

Rochester Fire Department Tanker 4

The Tanker is a part of the Truck Company. RFD has two available. Two Truck Company firefighters staff this apparatus when it is requested to respond to an emergency. These apparatus supply water for fire suppression activities in the rural areas of RFD's response area where there are no fire hydrants.

The Grass Rig is a part of the Truck Company. RFD has two available. Two Truck Company firefighters staff this apparatus when it is requested to respond to an emergency.
