Park and Recreation
Welcome to the Rochester Park and Recreation Departments web site. For close to 150 years the parks have played an important part in the quality of life that Rochester’s citizens and visitors enjoy. In 2004 the Department celebrated the 100th birthday of the Park Board.
The Department provides a variety of leisure time opportunities for people to enjoy. With over 3500 acres of park land, 60+ miles of trails, 56 playgrounds, 42 tennis courts, 14 picnic shelters, 2 outdoor pools, a beach, 35 horseshoe courts, 46 ball diamonds, 28 foot/soccer fields, 11 basketball courts,2 dog parks, 18 sand volleyball courts, 1 archery range, 3 cross country ski trails, 2 Frisbee golf courses and 2 garden plot sites.

The Department works closely with a number of private organizations to provide a variety of recreational opportunities. On any given day you can watch or participate in soccer, baseball, football, rugby, lacrosse, cricket, softball, frisbee golf, volleyball, golf, swimming, diving, scuba, hockey, skating, horseshoe, or cross country ski the list goes on and on.
