Forestry

Plummer House Lawn

The Parks Department's Forestry Division is responsible for the management of a comprehensive urban tree program including the control of Dutch Elm Disease, reforestation of park and boulevard areas, and maintenance of more than 100,000+ boulevard and public property trees. The division also manages the noxious weed control program, bikeway system, Peace Plaza and central business district maintenance, and municipal landscape construction.

Forest Pest First Detector & Ash Management Guide Workshops

Rochester will host two upcoming workshops in response to recent emerald ash borer (EAB) in Olmsted County.  The first will be Forest Pest First Detector on Wednesday, November 5th from 9 AM - 3:30 PM, $40; followed by Ash Management for Woodland Owners on Wednesday, November 12 from 9 AM – noon, $20. Pre-registration is required for both workshops. Money will be collected at the door. Checks and credit cards are acceptable. Wood Chips - load yourself piles *residential customers only*

Park and Forestry is no longer accepting wood chip orders.  There are two load yourself wood chip locations that are available to residential customers at Zumbro South Park Garden Plots (1111 Mayowood Road SW) and Lincolnshire Park (5276 Members Parkway NW).  These locations will be refilled as supplies are available.
