Animal Shelter

Animal Control enforces License Requirements in the city limits of Rochester. It is unlawful for any person to keep, harbor, or maintain a dog, cat, or ferret over the age of four months unless it is licensed. The city clerk, the animal control unit, may issue licenses for such dogs, cat, and ferrets or any licensed veterinarian authorized by the city clerk. A rabies vaccination certificate is required to obtain a city license.

We keep all stray animals 7 days before they can be adopted, this gives the owner(s) time to claim the animal. No information about any animal in our care will be released until 7 days have passed since the animal was impounded.

We are not able to provide photographs of the adoptable animals at this time.  Please visit the shelter if you are interested in adopting an animal.
