Volunteers In Public Safety
Now you can help your community to be a safer place to live and play by volunteering your services through the VIPS Program.
The most effective way to keep crime and other problems from our city is to make areas "unattractive" to the law breakers. To improve public safety a cooperative effort is needed by the police, fire and sheriff's offices and the community. Volunteers are being solicited to join this community oriented policing program sponsored by the Rochester Police Department. Regardless of the amount of time you have to offer, this exciting new program will give you the opportunity to help the community where YOU live and play.
Volunteers must possess the following qualifications:
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to follow procedures accurately and responsibly
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Desire to aid in the achievement of police, fire, sheriff and community goals and objectives
- Successful completion of a background investigation, including criminal history and driving check
All volunteers will be provided with:
- Classroom and field training
- Equipment necessary to perform assigned duties
