Animal Control Officers (ACO's) play a vital role for people and animals within our community. Their job encompasses public safety, enforcement of animal ordinances, animal care and rescue, nuisance abatement, and community outreach. The main office/shelter is located at 2150 Campus Drive SE, Rochester, MN, 55904.

The shelter is open to the public by appointment six days of the week:

Monday through Friday by appointment only.
Saturday by appointment only.
Sunday closed

Animal Control Officers are staffed 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. six days a week. If a priority incident occurs after hours, an Animal Control Officer may be called in.

Animal Control Officers are dispatched through the Communications Division which can be reached by dialing 507-328-6800  for non-emergencies or 911 for emergencies.

Call 911 for the following animal concerns:

  • Vicious animals, animals chasing/attacking people
  • Animal/vehicle collisions
  • Animal Fighting
  • Intentional Abuse of Animals

Call the non-emergency number for Animal Control 507-328-6960 and press 2 for the following animal concerns:

  • Stray dogs
  • Barking dogs
  • Animals in distress
  • Animal bites and scratches that break the skin
  • Removal of dead animal carcasses
