Mission Statement
The mission of the City of Rochester is to provide a safe, attractive environment through the responsive, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of municipal services. The City will strive to enhance community pride by improving the physical, environmental, economic, cultural and social quality of the community.
Statement of Values
- That the City government should display leadership and vision in addressing the future needs of the community.
- A recognition that successful government is a partnership which requires the active, respectful involvement of all citizens, elected officials, appointed boards, and staff.
- That the elected officials, appointed boards, and staff must have a caring attitude towards the citizens, visitors, and each other.
- That the City government should adhere to the highest standards of fiscal integrity and ethical conduct.
- That it is a responsibility of the City government to foster a healthy economic environment in the global marketplace to assist in the creation of jobs for our citizens.
- That an adequate supply of decent, safe, and affordable housing is critical to maintaining the quality of life in the community.
- That in order to protect the environment and ensure the efficient delivery of services, future development should occur in a planned, orderly manner.
- That the efficient delivery of quality services and quality governance will assist in creating a sense of pride in the community and a spirit of community.
- That the City should strive to reach excellence in the delivery of the services which are central to our mission, but should also avoid unnecessary duplication of services provided by other governments.
