After reviewing the updated forecast, the planned closure of Broadway Avenue North between 14th Street and Elton Hills Drive has been canceled. The risk of localized flooding impacting vehicular traffic has diminished. 

PREVIOUS STORY:
Due to the potential for ongoing heavy rainfall June 25, 2025, localized flooding may occur near construction areas along Broadway Avenue North. Barricades will temporarily close Broadway Avenue North between 14th Street and Elton Hills Drive at 7 p.m. June 25. Detour signage will be posted. The roadway is anticipated to re-open by 5 a.m. on Thursday, June 26. 

“We understand this closure is not ideal, but the safety of our residents and those traveling through the area is our top priority,” said Dillon Dombrovski, City Engineer. “With more rain in the forecast, we are acting now to avoid putting people at risk.” 

The City thanks residents for their patience and understanding as we work to improve long-term infrastructure while responding to short-term challenges. Traffic is expected to shift to the newly paved roadway on Saturday, June 28, where the risk of localized flooding will not impact the next phase of the project.
