A man is in custody following a shooting in southeast Rochester.

 

At approximately 9:35 p.m. on January 25, Rochester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Marion Road SE and Eastwood Rd SE. They located a man with a gunshot wound lying on the ground in the 1200 block of Marion Road SE. The victim was transported by Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service to Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus with life-threatening injuries.

 

About five minutes after the shooting, officers were dispatched to a home on the 2700 block of Marion Road SE after receiving a report that a man with a gun broke into the home. The man, who was known to the residents, was identified as the suspect from the earlier shooting and taken into custody.

 

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim and suspect were related. There is no known threat to the public.
