February 5, 2026 – ROCHESTER, MINN. - Rochester City Council Members Dan Doering and Nick Miller have been appointed to serve on National League of Cities (NLC) committees for 2026, representing Rochester alongside municipal leaders from across the country.
Council Member Dan Doering has been appointed to the NLC Human Development Committee, which focuses on policies related to social services, workforce development, education, public health, and support for children, seniors, and vulnerable populations.
“I’m honored to be appointed to serve on the NLC Human Development Committee. Supporting policies that strengthen families, expand access to care, and invest in people is core to why I ran for office and continue to serve,” said Doering. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring Rochester’s values and commitment to creating a caring community for all to this national committee, and to learn from leaders across the country.”
Council Member Nick Miller has been appointed to the Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee (TIS), which leads NLC’s policy and advocacy on transportation systems, infrastructure investment, safety, and regional connectivity.
“I’m honored to be appointed to the NLC Transportation & Infrastructure Services Committee. This role is an important opportunity to advocate for Rochester’s transportation and infrastructure needs with federal partners, including our work to create safer streets for children and seniors, secure sustainable, reliable funding for all modes of transportation, and align infrastructure investments with our climate goals,” said Miller. “I look forward to working with local elected leaders from across the country to ensure federal transportation policy reflects the current and future needs of cities like Rochester.”
As members of NLC’s committees, councils, and groups, Doering and Miller will help shape national policy positions and advocate on behalf of cities, towns, and villages before Congress, with the federal administration, and through collaboration with municipal leaders nationwide.
In addition to NLC representation by the two Councilmembers, Mayor Kim Norton began her service on the NLC Board on January 1, 2026. Read the full announcement about her NLC Board appointment.
