The City of Rochester would like to inform you that Spring Load Restrictions will take effect beginning March 3, 2026 in Rochester, Minnesota.
Seasonal load restrictions are described in Rochester Code of Ordinances Sec. 11-7-13.
During the spring thaw period imposed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), the following regulations apply:
- Designated truck routes will maintain an 80,000-pound gross vehicle weight limit, with a maximum of 20,000 pounds per axle.
- Any truck that deviates from a designated truck route to reach its destination will be restricted to 14,000 pounds per axle on non-truck routes.
- Oversize vehicle permits will only be issued in emergency situations while spring load restrictions are in effect.
These seasonal restrictions are necessary to protect roadway surfaces and preserve the integrity of public infrastructure during the spring thaw.
The City of Rochester appreciates your cooperation and adherence to these requirements.
