The Bookmobile is Getting a Makeover
Six years after launching the library's latest bookmobile, the library-on-wheels is getting a makeover.
"It's time for a fresh look, to go along with the library's new brand," says Kim Edson, Head of Readers’ Services. The Bookmobile is getting a new wrap, completely changing the exterior of the rig during a week-long process starting Monday, November 12.
Prize money from the library's National Medal win is funding the expense. "Now is the perfect opportunity to freshen up the Bookmobile and also acknowledge the library's award," adds Edson.
Featuring new colors and a new logo, the updated wrap replaces the original artwork from 2012, which was starting to show minor wear and tear. Vinyl wraps typically last between 5-7 years, according to vinyl wrap manufacturers.
On Monday, November 19, the new look will be revealed at an early morning celebration outside the library downtown at 101 2nd Street SE. The event will run from 8:30-10AM and will feature free coffee and donuts, while they last.
RPL’s Bookmobile is the busiest one in the state of Minnesota, based on circulation. Each year, the Bookmobile travels approximately 8,500 miles and makes over 70 stops every two weeks. The photo below is of the current design.
