Transit Service Curtailed by Extreme Cold
At 8pm, Rochester Public Transit suspended service for the remainder of the day on Jan. 29 due to mechanical difficulties caused by low temperatures. Crews are working throughout the night to address the mechanical issues caused by these extreme conditions.
On Wednesday morning, Jan. 30, transit service will be limited to the direct routes servicing Park & Ride lots only, beginning at 5:30 A.M.
Routes that will be operating beginning at the start of the service day on Wed., 1/30 are: 1D serving the Chateau Theater, 3D serving RCTC, 4D to Cub Foods, 6D to County Fairgrounds, 15D to Target South, 18D to IBM.
All drivers are being asked to report to work and additional service, and routes will be added throughout the morning if vehicles are performing as expected. However, there is also a chance that buses will continue to encounter difficulties and contingencies, including additional service suspensions may be necessary.
