Rochester Police Department Launches Badges and Board Games

Post Date:10/07/2019 9:42 AM

The Rochester Police Department (RPD), in partnership with D6 Games, Chip Theory Games, iello, and Calliope Games will offer an afternoon of strategy, competition and fun. On November 9, 2019 from Noon-3:00 p.m. the community is invited to join members of RPD, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office and Rochester Fire Department at D6 Games (4229 W. Frontage Road NW). Member of law enforcement and the fire department will play a variety of unique board games with those in attendance.  This event is free to attend and open to all.

“It will be an afternoon for young people in our community to connect with members of law enforcement and the fire department in a uniquely engaging way.  Similar to board games, we use strategy, determination, and teamwork in our line of work” shares Chief Jim Franklin.

The idea for Badges and Board Games ordinated through a conversation that Chief Franklin had with D6 Games owners.

Chris Fursa, owner of D6 Games shares, “We opened D6 Games, in Rochester, to bring people together and build a community.  By joining forces with public safety we wanted to grow the community even more, showing everyone can have fun playing tabletop games and making new friends.”

To help make this gathering possible, the additional partnerships with board game companies Chip Theory Games, iello, and Calliope Games was formed.  Theory Games is local company startup located in Plymouth, Minnesota.
