Applications are now being accepted for multiple positions on the Rochester Charter Commission. The Charter Commission is comprised of 15 members and meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each odd numbered months from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Residents are invited to apply through City's employment page.

City crews will be removing snow on Sunday night into Monday morning from the downtown area streets. The following streets will be posted by 1/20/19 at 11:00am for scheduled snow plowing between the hours of 12 AM and 8 AM on Monday, January 21, 2019.

On Saturday, January 26th and again on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019, weather permitting, Hawk & Sons Inc. will be closing 1st Avenue SW from approximately 25 feet north and south of the pedestrian crossings at the Peace Plaza.
The City of Rochester is inviting developers to submit proposals for a potential affordable or mixed income housing development to be constructed in the air rights above a new city parking ramp. This development project is the first of its kind for the City of Rochester.

PSA: Alley Closing in 10 Block SW - N / S alley West of Broadway Ave South - adjacent to Chateau Theater
Alvin Benike Inc. will be closing the south 160 feet of the North / South alley, located West of Broadway Avenue South, between Center Street West and the old 1st Street SW.
Knutson Construction Services will continue to have, into January 2019, the existing lane restrictions between 6th Avenue SW and 9th Avenue SW along 2nd Street SW.
Continuing on into 2019, Weis Builders will be closing the sidewalk and Turn Under Bay located on the North side of 3rd Street SE as part of the ongoing Hotel Indigo project, former known as the City Center Hotel site, located between Broadway Avenue South and the North / South alley.
Kraus-Anderson Construction, in conjunction with the construction of the “Hilton Hotel / Rochester Parking Ramp # 6” projects, will continue to have East Center Street, between South Broadway Avenue and 1st Ave SE / NE, closed to all thru traffic.
Continuing on into 2019, Opus Design Build LLC will be restricting traffic to the most easterly South Bound through lane of travel, for South Bound traffic, starting at 4th Street South and going 500 feet to the south, on Broadway Avenue South.
PSA: Extended Parking Lane Closure on 14 Ave SW - 2 St SW to the south for SB traffic - Alatus Project 2019
Weis Builders will continue to have the westerly parking lane along 14th Avenue SW from 2nd Street SW to the southerly construction site limits of the Alatus Project, for south bound traffic closed.
Continuing on into 2019 as part of the Alatus Project, Weis Builders will be at times temporarily closing the easterly traffic lane along 15th Avenue SW, from 2nd Street SW to approximately 400 feet to the south.
On Monday, Dec. 24, the Rochester Fire Department will hold a ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Silver Lake Firefighters Memorial to remember two Rochester firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on Christmas Eve of 1953.

Rochester Named First LEED Gold City in Minnesota and Recognized for Achieving Sustainability and Resiliency Goals
The City of Rochester is pleased to announce that it has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. Rochester is the first Minnesota city to be certified.

On December 12, 2018 the Rochester Fire Department, Rochester Police Department, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, and Gold Cross will provide 300 hams to community members in need. The gathering will take place from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Army National Guard Armory Parking Lot (1715 Marion Road SE).
