Jaguar Communications will be doing utility work along the north side of 2nd Street SW, which requires the closing of the northerly West Bound traffic lane along 2nd Street SW, between 7th Avenue SW to 9th Avenue SW.
RPU will be preforming emergency watermain repair work in the 2000 block of 15th Avenue NW, which will require the closure of one travel lane.
For the second time in four years, Rochester Public Library (RPL) has been recognized for its innovative work in the city. On Tuesday, the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota named RPL as one of 19 winners of this year’s Local Government Innovation Awards (LGIA).

The City of Rochester invites community members and organizational leaders to a meet with the two finalists for the Director of Community Development Department position. This gathering will take place on Tuesday, November 20 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at the Rochester Art Center.

On Thursday, November 15, 2018 the intersection of 4th Street SW and 6th Avenue SW will be completely closed to allow for rock and temporary bituminous paving in the 6th Avenue SW intersection.
On Monday, November 19, 2018 the traffic pattern at the intersection of 23rd Street SW and 4th Avenue SW will be permanently changing.
The Rochester Public Works Department wants to remind all property owners to keep their sidewalks, paths and the associated pedestrian ramps accessible this winter by removing snow and ice from them. When snow is here, you have 24 hours to clear!
On Saturday, November 17th, Hawk & Sons Inc. will be using a crane to perform repair work to the 3rd Street Parking ramp, located on the west side of 1st Avenue SW between 3rd Street SW and the south end of the ramp located 250 feet to the south.
This will be the first time in over 25 years that the department completes a comprehensive strategic plan.

On Monday, November 12, 2018, the contractor working on the Broadway Avenue and Center Street signal project will be disconnecting power to the traffic signal in order to relocate some of the equipment.
On Thursday, November 15 and Friday, November 16 a contractor will be conducting tree trimming and mulching along 2nd Street SW from 18th Avenue SW to 23rd Avenue SW.
Northern Pipe Line will be performing gas main work for Minnesota Energy along 3rd Avenue SW, 4th Avenue SW, 5th Street SW, and 6th Street SW from November 13 through December 31, 2018.
The City of Rochester Parks and Recreation Board of Commissioners will discuss geese impacts in the park system at the November 13 Park Board meeting. Humane management strategies will be reviewed but no action is expected from the Park Board at this meeting.

The Rochester Fire Department will dedicate its new ladder truck with a “push-in” ceremony Thursday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. at Fire Station 1 (521 S. Broadway). The new 107-foot Pierce Velocity ladder truck replaced the old Truck 12 last week and began responding out of Fire Station 1.

Crows have been an issue in Rochester and throughout the world for decades. The City of Rochester continues to make crow abatement a priority. Due to an increase in crow activity, abatement activities will begin for the season on November 5, 2018.

The City of Rochester Parks and Recreation Department and Art4Trails is pleased to announce two calls for public art. The first being a call for four installations for the bike trails near Downtown Rochester. The second being a call for eleven art installations at Cascade Lake Park.

Between November 1 and December 31, 2018 the forestry department will conduct their annual inspections for EAB. Inspections will be conducted on both public and private property in accordance with City Ordinance 47.
