The Litter Bit Better planning team decided last week to postpone the annual citywide cleanup event until October. “The health and safety of our Litter Bit Better volunteers are of the highest importance,” said Stephanie Hatzenbihler, Environmental Education Specialist for the City of Rochester.

City of Rochester continues essential services during extended Stay at Home order and announces suspension of early summer events
City of Rochester facilities will remain closed to the public through May 18, 2020 and essential city services will continue to be provided. The city also announced today its decision to suspend all programming and large-scale events in city facilities and on city grounds through July 8, 2020.

Phase 1 of the City Loop Construction Begins on May 4 to Improve Bicycle Safety and Access in Downtown Rochester
Construction on Phase 1 of the City Loop will begin on Monday, May 4, 2020. The goal of this Destination Medical Center (DMC) funded project is to provide safe and convenient bicycle access to and through downtown Rochester for all users.

The Rochester City Council will resume bi-weekly study sessions next week. Study sessions will take place on April 27 and May 11, with City Council meetings continuing as scheduled on May 4 and May 18. All meetings will be held at 3:30 p.m.

The City of Rochester is seeking applications for three vacancies on the Ethical Practices Board (EPB). The Ethical Practices Board consists of seven citizen members and serves to further the goals of the established Code of Ethics.

Earlier this year, Rochester’s bike sharing program announced that a portion of the program’s bikes would be given to community groups and individuals demonstrating interest and need. Over 180 grant applications were received with bikes being awarded to 35 individuals and 10 community groups.

City of Rochester assisting restaurants with new provisions allowing limited off-sale of wine and beer with food takeout
Starting Saturday, April 18, qualifying restaurants can sell one bottle of wine and 72 oz. of beer, cider or seltzer — a six-pack — incidental to an order of prepared takeaway food.
