Silver Lake Projects & Dredging
Proposed Silver Lake Improvement Projects (2019)
The City of Rochester has identified improvements to Silver Lake Park that can be done during the necessary dredging of Silver Lake. The proposed projects are meant to increase pedestrian safety, provide needed park enhancements, improve environmental features, and provide alternative recreation opportunities.
One potential enhancement is providing additional pedestrian improvements along North Broadway, via a pedestrian bridge to cross Silver Lake. This would also include extending a trail along the north side of Silver Lake. In addition, the existing dam is no longer needed and continues to require significant maintenance. An option to modify the dam is also being considered. All of these aspects are outlined in the Rochester Parks & Recreation System Plan, which was approved by the City in 2016.
