Patrol Captain Mike Drees
The Rochester Police Department Patrol Team is comprised of uniformed personnel who deliver law enforcement services to the community 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.The Patrol Team is the core operational function of the police department and very often the most visible face of our Department.
For emergency response purposes, the City of Rochester is divided into sectors: Northwest, Southwest, and East. Each sector is then divided into beats, allowing officers to patrol a designated geographic area. There are nine separate beats within the city.
Officers assigned to Patrol work various hours providing 24/7 coverage and are assigned to teams. Patrol shifts are 12 hours in length and officers work a four day on – four day off schedule. Hours of work include permanent nights, permanent days and mid-shift schedules that generally provide additional coverage from 12 pm to 12 am, or 4 pm to 4 am.
