Route 191 Realignment

Rochester Public Transit (RPT) started Route 191 service in October 2018. Data shows Route 191 has lower ridership than what is considered productive transit service for this kind of route. RPT recommends the refinements summarized below to Route 191 to maintain accessibility for riders and improve productivity and cost-effectiveness for funders.

The recommendation focuses fixed route transit service on the highest ridership sections of the existing Route 191. Figure 1 shows the recommended Route 191 operating between the Rochester Public Transit Offices and Rochester Community and Technical College. The recommended Route 191 would continue to operate via 37th Street NW, 41st Street NW, 55th Street NW, West Circle Drive, the Apache Mall, and the Fairgrounds. Bus stops along the recommended Route 191 would be served by one bus per hour in each direction (i.e., 60-minute frequency) from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Figure 2 shows Route 191 as it exists in December 2019.
