Every year Public Works seal coats numerous streets throughout the city as part of the City of Rochester’s ongoing pavement preservation program. The seal coating is completed via three phases: chip sealing, fog sealing and lane striping. Links map showing the locations of the work can be found below.
Prior to this maintenance operation, the affected streets are posted with yellow NO PARKING THIS SIDE signs. All parking is prohibited in the posted work zone Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. All violators will be ticketed and towed. Parking restrictions are for daytime maintenance activities only. Parking is allowed on weekends and after hours in these posted areas.
The streets will remain posted with parking restrictions until the streets are swept after completion of the seal coat operation. Following the seal coat operation, designated streets and cul-de-sacs will also receive fog sealing. During both the fogging and seal coating processes there will be hot emulsion placed on the street surface. Please give the crews ample room while they are doing this work and do not drive through these areas until the work is complete. Traffic lanes will be restricted during the chip seal and fog seal processes. Traffic can drive on the chip sealed areas once the chips are placed and rolled. The final fog sealing operation takes approximately 2-4 hours to cure, so traffic will be restricted in those areas during that time.
