Center Street Ramp Closes Monday
The Center Street Ramp will completely close on Monday, March 23, for necessary restoration work. Due to the location of the repair work and the ramp layout, vehicles will not be able to circulate in either direction (cars cannot enter or exit). To avoid this issue, the ramp will remain closed for the duration of the project, which is expected to last into August.
Rochester operates multiple public parking ramps that are great options for easy access to downtown restaurants, businesses and places of worship. All have public parking ramps have skyway connections for added convenience.
The recommended alternative to the Center Street Ramp, while it is closed for construction, is the 1st Street Ramp, located at 13 2nd Street SE.
Other parking ramps in the vicinity of the Center Street Ramp include the 2nd Street Ramp (14 2nd Street SE) and Ramp 6 (59 1st Street SE). Additionally, the yellow parking meters downtown offer ten minutes of free parking, which is a great option for quick errands. To activate this feature, users can press the “+ Time” button and the ten-minute countdown will begin.
This work is part of the City of Rochester’s ongoing program to maintain public parking ramps through condition assessments and recommended repairs. These efforts help extend the useful life of the ramps and ensure they remain safe for public use and operation.
