Records

The City Clerk is designated under the City Charter as the keeper of City records. In this role, the Clerk's Office provides guidance to all City departments in maintaining an effective records system.  The City has adopted the General Records Retention Schedule for Minnesota Cities, last updated by the Minnesota Clerks and Finance Officers Association in March of 2021.

Accessing City Records and Information

Many government records and types of information are available directly through the City's website.

Access to City records can also be requested through the City Clerk's Office under the provisions of Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13, the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act. The City Clerk has been designated as the City's Responsible Authority for Data Practices requests.

Request records and information through the Public Records Center

*Requests for Police Reports should go directly to Law Enforcement Records.
