Sept. 4 Fireworks at Soldiers Field: What to Know Before You Go

The City of Rochester is preparing for the rescheduled fireworks show at Soldiers Field Memorial Park on Friday, Sept. 4. The show will begin at 9 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks will take place Saturday, Sept. 5.

Those attending are encouraged to arrive early and allow extra time for travel, parking and walking to the viewing area.

Event Updates

Community members are also encouraged to sign up to receive event updates by text message. Updates will also be shared on the City’s social media channels and with local media outlets.

Two large digital message boards will be located inside Soldiers Field Memorial Park to provide attendees with real-time updates and other important information.

An initial decision about whether the fireworks can proceed as scheduled is expected by 2 p.m. Sept. 4. City teammates will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates through the scheduled start time.

Additional Closures

The following closures will be in place for fireworks setup and the show:

  • Townies Grill’d Philly Subs is expected to close between 7:30 and 8 p.m.

The Sept. 4 fireworks were scheduled following the incomplete July 4 display. Since then, the City has continued working with fireworks vendor J&M Displays Inc. to prepare for the rescheduled event.

J&M Displays is enhancing the approximately 30-minute show with 500 additional shells. The enhancement represents an additional $10,000 in value at no cost to the City and will create a fuller, higher-quality display without extending its length. The total value of the show is more than $48,000. A different firing system will also be used.
