Just Deeds

The Just Deeds Coalition was established to help communities and property owners to remove discriminatory and restrictive covenants from property titles. This service is free for the property owner.

In 2016, the University of Minnesota founded Mapping Prejudice, which researched restrictive covenants in Hennepin County. Mapping Prejudice aims to map the City of Rochester to further assist in removing discriminatory covenants from local properties.

On March 22, 2021, the Common Council of the City of Rochester passed Resolution 051-21 approving the participation in the Just Deeds Project.

To look for restrictive covenants on your property or to volunteer your time, please complete one of the forms listed below. If you have questions about this project, please direct them to justdeeds@rochestermn.gov, and a City of Rochester teammate will respond.
