Active Threat Training Exercise

July 29, 2026 – ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA – The City of Rochester and Olmsted County are conducting a full-scale emergency response training exercise at Century High School on Monday, August 3. 

This Active Threat Training Exercise is part of ongoing efforts to ensure coordinated, effective responses to potential emergency situations and to strengthen preparedness across local agencies. Participating agencies include, but are not limited to: City of Rochester Emergency Management, Rochester Police Department, Rochester Fire Department, Olmsted County Emergency Management, Olmsted County Sherrif’s Office, Mayo Clinic Ambulance and Rochester Public Schools. 

Residents and businesses in the surrounding area may notice a large emergency vehicle presence throughout the day at the school. There is no cause for alarm and sirens will not be utilized by emergency vehicles on scene. This is a planned exercise and all activity will be part of the training scenario. 

No impacts to the traveling public are expected outside of the Century High School property. Roadways and normal traffic patterns in the surrounding neighborhood and greater community should remain unaffected.
