Rochester residents and visitors have multiple opportunities to celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th anniversary on Saturday, July 4. The City of Rochester and Experience Rochester invite the community to 4th Fest: Rochester Celebrates America, a free, family-friendly celebration from 5-10:30 p.m. at Soldiers Field Memorial Park. Earlier in the day, the Rochester Community Band will present its free "July 4th Concert: Let Freedom Ring!" at the Canfield Amphitheater at Cascade Lake Park.
Rochester City Council President Randy Schubring has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) Board of Directors. LMC is a membership association made up of over 840 cities of all sizes from around the state that serves Minnesota cities through advocacy, education and training, policy development, risk management, and other services.
The passport program encourages residents to meet the Mayor, City Council President and City Councilmembers, learn more about their ward and discover how local government works. Community members can pick up a free passport at City Hall, the Rochester Public Library and community events throughout the summer.
The City of Rochester has received a Large City Honorable Mention in the 2026 Mayors’ Climate Protection Awards, presented by the United States Conference of Mayors and Walmart. The recognition honors the City of Rochester’s Thermal Energy Network, the first active thermal energy network in Minnesota.

The City of Rochester is inviting residents and businesses to show their pride and support a welcoming community through a new yard sign initiative. Free yard signs and window decals featuring the messages “Welcome, You Belong Here” and “Building Community, All People at a Time” will be available while supplies last (1,000 total).
The City of Rochester has released the 2026 Summer Fun & City Resources magazine, which will be mailed directly to nearly 64,000 residential mailboxes. Residents will find information about City services, seasonal events, recreational opportunities and community resources.
