City of Rochester Launches “Healthy Home Helpers” Program
Rochester, MN — The City of Rochester is launching Healthy Home Helpers, a new program designed to help residents improve indoor air quality, better understand their home energy use and connect with resources that support healthier, more efficient living environments.
Healthy Home Helpers offers Rochester residents a free in-home consultation with trained Navigators who provide personalized guidance on common household concerns such as ventilation, indoor air quality and energy use. Each participating household also receives a free Healthy Home Kit (over $120 value), with materials to help address simple issues right away.
During the visit, Healthy Home Helpers will:
- Identify opportunities to improve comfort, safety and efficiency
- Answer questions about indoor air quality and home energy use
- Connect residents to available programs, rebates and services for potential home improvements
Kits may include items such as LED light bulbs, weatherization materials, water-saving fixtures, green cleaning supplies, a radon test kit and a carbon monoxide detector.
“Many homes have underlying conditions that can impact comfort, air quality and long-term costs,” said Kayla Betzold, Sustainability Coordinator with the City of Rochester. “This program is about helping residents better understand their homes and connecting them to trusted programs and resources so they can make informed decisions.”
The program is open to both renters and homeowners, and focuses on practical, accessible steps residents can take, along with connections to existing local programs that support energy efficiency, weatherization and home health.
Residents can participate in three simple steps:
- Sign up for a free visit
- Meet with a trained Healthy Home Helper
- Receive a free kit and connections to additional resources
Healthy Home Helpers is led by the City of Rochester Sustainability team partnership with local health and energy organizations.
