Link Construction Shifts this Weekend
September 25, 2026 – ROCHESTER, MN. – Construction on the Link Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is well underway, with crews making steady progress across the corridor. Crews have made substantial visible progress along the corridor, keeping the project on schedule for its first fare‑free Link rides in August 2027. As work advances beyond midseason milestones, residents, visitors and the Rochester workforce will see construction expanding into additional areas of the corridor in the coming weeks.
Construction will continue in phases this fall, bringing lane shifts, traffic pattern changes and occasional full closures. Link construction timelines are coordinated with other downtown projects to help reduce disruptions where possible.
Beginning overnight from Friday, September 25, to Saturday, September 26, construction on 2nd Street SW at the interchange with Highway 52 will move to the north side of the roadway leading to the following impacts:
- 16th Avenue SW from 2nd Street SW will be reduced to southbound travel, only
- Business access will be maintained from 1st Street SW
Additionally, starting today September 25, one lane of traffic in each direction is now open on 2nd Street SE at Civic Center Drive.
