Mayor Norton Joins Nation’s Mayors in Long Beach for U.S. Conference of Mayors’ 94th Annual Meeting
Mayor Kim Norton is attending the 94th Annual Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) this week. She will be joining more than 200 other local leaders to discuss the latest challenges facing American cities, such as housing affordability, public safety, infrastructure investment, local-federal partnerships, artificial intelligence and immigration policy.
At the meeting, Mayor Norton will participate in discussions, committee meetings and plenary sessions with fellow mayors to help shape a unified agenda for America’s cities for the coming year and the nation’s 250th anniversary. Representing Rochester, Mayor Norton will carry a Jobs, Education and Workforce policy resolution on behalf of Jinny Rietman, president and CEO of Workforce Development, Inc., bringing Rochester’s workforce development priorities before mayors from across the nation. The mayors will also inaugurate Todd Gloria as the 84th president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
By attending, Mayor Norton will help elevate Rochester’s workforce development priorities at the national level, strengthen valuable partnerships with fellow local leaders and ensure the needs of Rochester are reflected in key policy discussions in the year to come.
“The U.S. Conference of Mayors Annual Meeting is an important opportunity for city leaders to come together, share ideas and develop solutions to the challenges facing communities across the country,” said Mayor Norton. “As Rochester continues to grow, I look forward to representing our city, sharing the innovative work happening here and advancing workforce development priorities that support employers, job seekers and economic opportunity in Rochester and communities across the country. I also look forward to learning from fellow mayors as we address challenges such as housing affordability, public safety, infrastructure investment and strong local-federal partnerships that benefit Rochester residents.”
The USCM 94th Annual Meeting will be held June 4-7 in Long Beach, California.
