Open House for Elton Hills Drive NW Improvement Project

May 5, 2026 - ROCHESTER, MN. – The City of Rochester invites community members to attend an open house for the upcoming Elton Hills Drive NW improvement project. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Elton Hills Elementary School cafeteria/gym, located at 1421 Elton Hills Drive NW. 

The City is planning improvements along Elton Hills Drive NW, from East Frontage Road (US 52) to Broadway Avenue N, with construction anticipated in 2027. While the project is primarily focused on pavement preservation, a recent traffic study evaluated potential safety enhancements and updates to pavement markings throughout the corridor. 

"While the primary goal is pavement preservation, safety is always at the forefront of our work. The traffic study helped us identify potential enhancements and we’re eager to share those findings with the community and collect feedback," said Tyler Niemeyer, Public Works Director. 

During the open house, City staff will present the traffic study findings and the alternatives that were evaluated. The event will begin with a brief town-hall-style presentation, followed by an open-house format that will provide opportunities for questions, discussion and feedback.
