Progress on Link Continues (3)
October 9, 2026 – ROCHESTER, MN. – Construction on the Link Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project continues this fall as crew’s complete street improvements and advance work on stations along the corridor. This work brings Rochester closer to the start of fare-free Link service in August 2027.
As construction progresses, drivers and pedestrians will continue to encounter lane shifts, temporary closures and changes to access. The project team coordinates Link work with other downtown construction projects to reduce disruptions where possible and encourages travelers to review current construction and detour information before heading downtown.
Beginning October 12, access between 16th Avenue SW and 2nd Street SW will be closed for two weeks while crews complete street and sidewalk concrete work.
Vehicles will be detoured via 17th Avenue SW. The north side of 2nd Street SW, including the sidewalk, will remain closed in the construction area.
Eastbound and westbound traffic will remain open on the south side of 2nd Street SW. The intersection at 13th Avenue SW will also remain open as an alternate route.
Once the work is complete, access at 16th Avenue SW will reopen to north-south traffic.
Drivers are encouraged to plan additional travel time to reach their destination as delays are expected in the vicinity of this closure. For more information on traveling downtown, please visit: www.downtownrochesterconstruction.org.
