Residents Invited to Community & City Council Forum on Nov. 30

The City of Rochester invites residents to join Mayor Kim Norton and members of the City Council on Monday, Nov. 30, for an evening of conversation about our community and its future.

The Community & City Council Forum will focus on questions like: What is working in Rochester? What would residents like to see and experience in Rochester’s future?

“Through our partnership with the National Civic League’s Better Public Meetings initiative, we’ve spent nearly a year exploring how to make conversations between residents and elected officials more meaningful,” said Mayor Kim Norton. “Building on last winter’s community session and my recent Town Halls, I’m excited to continue this work and ensure residents’ experiences and ideas are not only heard but thoughtfully incorporated as we shape Rochester’s future together.”

The City will share findings from the 2026 National Community Survey to help frame the conversation. Conducted every two years, the survey asks residents about quality of life and City services. The forum offers an opportunity to build on those findings by hearing directly from residents about their experiences and ideas.

“We want to hear from people about the Rochester they experience every day and the Rochester they hope to see in the future,” said City Council President Randy Schubring. “Whether you’ve shared your thoughts with the City before or this would be your first time, your perspective belongs in the conversation. I hope you’ll join us and invite someone else whose voice we need to hear.”

Residents do not need to prepare remarks or have experience participating in City meetings. The City also encourages attendees to personally invite neighbors, friends, coworkers or others whose perspectives should be part of the conversation.
