Rochester Parks and Recreation Recommends New Concessions Operator for Soldiers Field Memorial Park
The City of Rochester Parks and Recreation is recommending that the Rochester Park Board authorize staff to negotiate a concession agreement with Uni Uni and Old Abe for the golf course clubhouse at Soldiers Field Memorial Park.
The recommendation follows a request for proposals (RFP) process authorized by the Park Board in August to identify the best concession option for the clubhouse. Two proposals were received and reviewed by a panel made up of two Park Board members and three Parks and Recreation Department supervisors. The panel evaluated both proposals and interviewed applicants. Uni Uni and Old Abe's proposal stood out for its menu options, programming ideas and approach to serving golfers and other park visitors.
"Soldiers Field is a place for the entire community, whether you're playing a round of golf, spending time with your family or enjoying the park," said Rochester Parks and Recreation Director Paul Widman. "We wanted to look at how concessions could best serve everyone who uses the park, and we're excited about the opportunities this proposal brings."
At its Nov. 10 meeting, the Park Board will consider the recommendation. If authorized, Parks and Recreation staff expect to bring a final agreement to the Park Board for consideration in December.
