RPT Offering “A Cool Place to Be”

July 13, 2026 – ROCHESTER, MINN. –  Rochester Emergency Management is anticipating extreme weather conditions in Rochester today through Thursday, July 16. In response, Rochester Public Transit (RPT) is activating its fare-free “Cool Place to Be” program in response to this week’s forecast of high heat and humidity.

During this time, people caught outside in the extreme heat can notify an RPT driver that they need to escape the heat and cool down, and no fare will be charged to board the bus.
