Temporary Closure of Chateau Skyway

May 1, 2026 - ROCHESTER, MN. – The Chateau skyway will be temporarily closed beginning May 5. This closure allows for necessary ceiling repairs and upgrades to take place. The closure is expected to last three days. During this time, pedestrian access through the skyway will not be available. 

Crews will replace the existing ceiling system to ensure long-term durability and improve overall structural performance. Due to the nature of the work, there is no safe way to maintain pedestrian access through the skyway while repairs are underway. 

During the closure, pedestrians will be detoured at street level through the Heart of the City. Elevators and escalators are available in the Shops on University Square/Galleria as well as stairs and elevators in the Wells Fargo building. Signage will be posted to guide skyway users along the temporary route.  

The City appreciates the public’s patience as this important work is completed and encourages travelers to plan ahead and allow extra time when moving through the area.
