Transit Operations Services Agreement Before Council on July 6 Council Meeting
The Rochester City Council will consider an agreement related to the transition of transit operations services at its upcoming meeting on Monday, July 6. As Rochester Public Transit continues to prepare for future service needs, including the implementation of Link Bus Rapid Transit, the proposed action would support a coordinated transition between operating partners.
Rachel Fautsch, Director of Transit and Parking for the City of Rochester, shares: “The City of Rochester and Transdev have worked collaboratively to develop a transition approach that prioritizes riders, employees and uninterrupted service to the community. Throughout its tenure in Rochester, Transdev has been a valued partner in delivering public transportation services and supporting the mobility needs of residents, visitors and employees across the community. The City is grateful for the dedication of the frontline operators, mechanics, dispatchers, supervisors and support staff who have worked every day to keep Rochester moving.”
Transdev shares, “We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served the Rochester community and to have partnered with the City over many years to deliver safe, reliable transit service. We are proud of the dedication our team has shown every day in supporting riders and keeping the community connected. As this transition moves forward, Transdev is committed to working closely with the City and incoming operator to ensure a seamless, professional handoff that maintains continuity of service for riders and supports our employees. We appreciate the trust the City has placed in us and wish Rochester continued success as it advances its public transit vision.”
Both organizations are committed to ensuring the proposed transition is carried out professionally, thoughtfully and with respect for the longstanding partnership that has supported public transportation in Rochester. Maintaining safe, reliable service for riders remains the shared priority, and if approved, the transition would occur in a phased and coordinated manner designed to provide continuity of service while positioning Rochester Public Transit for future success.
