Passenger Conduct

It is unlawful on any Rochester Public Transit (RPT) bus to: Smoke; loiter; eat or drink; spit or litter; play a radio or other instrument except when connected to an earphone; carry any uncaged animals, firearms, weapons, flammable liquids, or any other dangerous articles.

Strollers

All strollers must be foldable. Please remove your child from the stroller before boarding the bus. Fold the stroller and carry it on the bus. Unfolded strollers block the aisle for other passengers and endanger your child, who could be hurt if the youngster is seated in the stroller and the bus must make a sudden stop. Strollers should be folded and placed out of the aisle while you ride.

Service Animals

Per ADA rule Title II section 35.104 and section 35.136, a service animal is a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. The rule states that other animals, whether wild or domestic, do not qualify as service animals.

Non-Discrimination

The City of Rochester’s public transit program is committed to providing access and the benefits of its program to all persons without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or socioeconomic status. Visit our Accessibility & Paratransit Page for more information.

Passes

Rochester Public Transit (RPT) is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged passes or fare media. Passes are non-refundable and non-replaceable. Riders are responsible for keeping their pass secure at all times.

Bags and Personal Items

Passengers may board the bus with no more than two (2) bags or personal items, provided they can be safely held on the rider’s lap or stored without blocking aisles, doorways, or seating areas. Items that interfere with passenger movement or safety are not permitted on board.
