Citizens Advisory on Transit

The seven members shall be selected based on the following criteria.

  • Resident of the City of Rochester, with the exception of 1 seat, which may be extended to a resident within the 4 surrounding townships of Rochester, Cascade, Marion, or Haverhill.
  • Have an expressed interest in public transportation.
  • Is a rider of public transportation and/or involved in agencies involved in support services, e.g., travel training or vocational training of riders.

Appointments are for three years.

  • Study and review issues pertaining to public transit in the Rochester area.
  • Support community awareness of public transportation issues.
  • Provide opportunity for community input and act as a forum for public discussion of public transportation issues.
  • Act as an appeals board regarding paratransit eligibility.

The mission of the Citizens Advisory on Transit is to assist in the planning and review of publicly funded transportation services within the Rochester area. The Advisory recommendations are forwarded to the Common Council.

The advisory is composed of seven members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Common Council. Meetings are held on a periodic basis, typically once a month. Meetings are typically held late in the afternoon from 4:15 p.m. until 5:45 p.m., with the exception of evening neighborhood meetings, which are held as needed.
