The Silver Lake Pool is closed for the remainder of today, Saturday, July 11, due to a water contamination incident. The pool will remain closed while staff complete all required disinfection procedures to ensure the water meets public health and safety standards.
· Please note that downtown construction may add a few extra turns to your trip, and some walking and biking routes near Civic Center Drive and the bridge remain closed. We encourage everyone to review the Downtown Construction Map to plan your route.
As of 12:28 p.m., July 11, 2026, Riverside Music Series is scheduled to continue as planned. Rochester Public Music is sharing parking and wayfinding information to help guests plan for Riverside Music Series at Mayo Park.
Construction near the Mayo Civic Center may affect some streets, sidewalks, and usual routes. Guests are encouraged to allow extra time and review the City’s live Downtown Construction Navigation map before heading downtown. The map opens in the “Pedestrian” view, showing sidewalk and crosswalk impacts near Mayo Park and the Mayo Civic Center.
Free evening and weekend parking is available in nearby City-owned ramps, surface lots, and metered street spaces. Guests may also walk, bike, roll, carpool, or use downtown parking options within walking distance of Mayo Park.

Cascade Lake Beach has reopened after follow-up water testing confirmed bacteria levels have returned to a safe range for swimming.
The City routinely tests water quality at Cascade Lake Beach and Foster Arend Beach each week to help provide a safe swimming experience. Last week's testing found elevated bacteria levels at Cascade Lake Beach, requiring a temporary closure. Follow-up testing has confirmed the beach is safe to reopen.
Bacteria levels in natural bodies of water can fluctuate for a variety of reasons, including runoff after heavy rainfall, wildlife in the area and hot weather.
The City will continue its regular weekly water quality monitoring at both beaches throughout the summer.
The City thanks residents for their patience and cooperation while the temporary closure was in place.
This includes stick signs, sandwich boards and banners that promote businesses, garage sales or political candidates. The right-of-way includes public streets, bridges, medians, bike lanes, sidewalks, boulevards, trails and pedestrian bridges over roadways. Illegally placed signs will be removed.
Community members are invited to attend the 2nd annual Disability Summit, "The Future is Accessible: Innovation in Disability Policy," on Friday, July 24, at the Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) Heintz Center.
The City of Rochester Parks & Recreation Department recognized two lifeguards, Matias Vega and Eoin Porrata, for their lifesaving actions. Sam Sonnabend, Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and former City of Rochester Outdoor Pools Manager was also recognized for his role in lifeguard training. Vega, Porrata and Sonnabend were honored with a Red Cross National Lifesaving Award during a recognition event on July 7 at City Hall.
The City of Rochester has once again been recognized as a Steps 4 and 5 city through the Minnesota GreenStep Cities program, a statewide initiative that supports communities in advancing sustainability best practices, tracking performance and promoting innovation.
The Power Plant Lot will be closed on Wednesday, July 8.
The City of Rochester apologizes to everyone who came to the 4th Fest celebration anticipating a full fireworks show. We recognize the disappointment experienced by community members and visitors when the fireworks show did not unfold as planned.
